 The Deputy Minister of Transport Gospodinova attended a conference “European Funds and Infrastructure Projects in Bulgaria”. It took place in Inter Expo Center, Sofia today. The forum participated representatives of the European Commission delegation in Bulgaria, Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of regional Development and Public Works, Agency for Economic Analysis and Forecasting, The Bulgarian Chamber “Roads”,   Bulgarian Association of Consulting Companies in Railway Construction, Association of the Road Engineer Consultants etcetera. 

During the opening, the Deputy Minister Gospodinova declared that the discussions will be very useful, in order to define the right way to the best conclusion of important issues in the field of transport. One of the priorities of the Ministry of Transport is namely to improve the relations with the branch- and other non-government organizations from the transport sector.

The infrastructure development is main priority of the Bulgarian government program. The big railway and road network, as well the ports and airports need an urgent rehabilitation and modernization. So, the main directions with European and national importance must be defined, as well the financing sources, the fully mastering of the European funds. The private sector must be also attracted to realize infrastructure projects.

It is necessary to accelerate the accomplishing of the running infrastructure projects, in order to compensate the delay in the last years.

The Ministry Council took a decision, a strategy for the Bulgarian infrastructure development to be elaborated till March. Main part of it concerns the transport infrastructure. For that reason, the qualitative development and subsequently the effective management and control of the Operative Program “Transport” is of paramount importance for the Ministry of Transport.

The achievement of advanced, modern transport infrastructure is a hard, ambitious task, which requires, problems gathered for decades, to be overcome. It needs time, long term approach and assurance of stable financial streams.

Deputy Minister Gospodinova declared at the end of her speech the willingness of the Ministry of Transport to do its best for vastly quality increase of the transport infrastructure and services, as well to transform our transport system in an inseparable part of the European one.
