The contract with the selected supervision consultant on the project “Reconstruction and Electrification of the railway line Plovdiv – Svilengrad – Greek/Turkish boundary for 160(200) kilometers per hour was signed today in the Ministry of transport. As executor of the announced procedure, the consortium TYPSA S.A., Louis Berger SAS, Systra S.A., TRADEMCO SA and Rubicon Engineering Ltd was chosen.
The contract was signed from the Deputy Minister of Transport Vesela Gospodinova and Typsa S.A. director executive of the international activities Luis Moreno Nieves.
The signed contract is to the total value of 12 577 350 with continuance – 74 months. The delegation of the European commission approved the contract on April 20, 2006. The selection procedure was carried out according to the rules of the European Commission.
The railway line Plovdiv – Svilengrad – Greek/Turkish boundary is part of the 4th and 9th pan-European transport corridors. It includes the territory of two districts – Plovdiv and Haskovo. The total value of the project is 340 million Euro. It is being realized with the financial support of the European Commission (with the means from the European Union pre-accession program ISPA – 153 million Euro free of charge), European Investment Bank – 150 million Euro, as well co-financing from the state budget – 37 million Euro. The project will help the railway transport to gain competitiveness, as well to be integrated more rapidly into the European transport network.
