Bulgaria will be a host to the fifth annual intergovernmental commission TRASECA. Our country will preside at the commission during the next one-year period. The sessions of the commission will take place on May 2-3, Tuesday and Wednesday, 2006 in Sofia,”Grand-Hotel Sofia”, Gurkostreet №1.

The program of the annual meeting foresees the examination of topics, some of which connected with political and financial commitments. To every single matter of the agenda, the intergovernmental commission will take adequate decision and give appropriate recommendation.

For the period of the meeting a new Secretary-general of the standing Secretariat of TRASECA will be selected. The new website of TRASEKA will be presented, as well the usage regulations of its database.

According to expectations, a new strategy of the intergovernmental commission TRASECA, regarding the development of the international transport corridor Europe – Kuakas – Asia, for the period up to 2006 will be accepted. It describes the further institutional development of TRASECA, according to which the international organ will transform itself in an international organization with possibility for independent funding of its activities and projects. In order to start the procedure on the preparation, an adequate decision of the intergovernmental commission must be at hand. The transformation itself will be announced, according to expectations, during the conference, planed to take place in 2008, on the occasion of the General Multilateral Agreement.

Through the session, a permanent operative press centre will be available.
