In the “State Gazette” today has been promulgated the resolution of the Ministry Council from June 15th 2006, which approves the alliance between the German company Fraport AG and the Bulgarian firm “BM Star” Ltd as a participant which has won the extramural competition for the concession of Varna and Burgas Airports. The Time of the concession is 35 years. The investment foreseen by the candidate for development and modernization of the airports for the term of the concession is 403 millions Euros from which 215 millions Euros are for Burgas airport and 188 millions Euros – for the airport in Varna. The concessionaire will pay once a concession fee at the rate of 3 000 000 Euros. For the time of the concession the concessionaire will pay annually a concession fee at the rate of 19.2 per cent from the bigger of the two sums: - the total amount of the incomes from all activities for the current year, connected with the usage of the object of the concession; or - the total amount of the incomes of all tolls from the civil airport for public use Burgas and from the civil airport for public use Varna, according to article120, paragraph1 of the civil aviation low, as well the incomes from the activities of the active airport operators “Airport Burgas” Ltd and “Airport Varna” Ltd for the year 2003. The Ministry Council empowered the Minister of Transport to sign the concession contract in one-month period after the resolution comes into force. The concession contract will come into force within 60 days after its signing.
