The Minister of Transport Peter Mutafchiev will make a work visit on July 16th and 17th 2006 at the airports in Burgas and Varna, on the occasion of the implementation of the passenger terminals extension projects. The directors-executive will make presentations of the accomplished improvements and analysis of the statistic of the served passengers and airplanes. The visit at Burgas Airport will begin at 13.00 o’clock on July 16th, 2006, and in Varna, at 9 o’clock am on July 17th. Representatives of the local and the district administrations of the both cities, as well parliament deputies, representatives of tour operators and air companies will attend the event. We would like to remaind you that improvements of the both airport have been made, as follows: Burgas Airport – Extension of the Passenger Terminals “International Airlines – Departure” - additionally two new ticket-desks have been opened, equipped for an automatic check-in, with the adjoining luggage system and roentgen. Some of the passengers already serviced, are being oriented to the second floor, where after the border and custom examination, they could await their flight. On the place of the Aviation Museum, a new passage is being built to the Terminal “International Airlines – Arrival” in this way the hall for the luggage receiving will be widen with 1000 quadrate meters. Now a mounting of a new luggage carousel is being accomplished. So in the season’s peak, airport Burgas will be the only one from the three international airports with three luggage conveyors to serve the arriving passengers. 12 booking-offices have been equipped end given to the representatives of the tour operator companies for free of charge utilization. Also extended is the parking in front of terminal “Arrival” with 30 lots for Buses and 80 lots for cars. The expectations are, after the fulfillment of the enlargements, the capacity of the two passenger terminals to be increased with 30%. Varna Airport – Extension of the Passenger Terminals In order to increase the promptness and the quality of the passenger service during the recent summer season, the following improvements have been accomplished: Enlargement of the zone for passengers, who have come through border and custom examination has been made to ensure more comfort for the passengers, on the place, where they are awaiting the flight. As a result of internal reconstructions and improvements, the area is increased with almost 40%. Enlargement has been made also in the zone for passengers check-in of the regular airlines. Five new automated check-in equipments has been mounted, so that the whole number of the check-in desks in the departure terminals on Varna airport became 18. The luggage conveyors have been lengthened in the departure and arrival terminals. A Business hall has been built for those, who travel business class, with the regular airlines. An office for air tickets has been opened in the terminal building of Varna Airport. Entirely modernized and put into operation is a fast food restaurant with mother-and-child room. The parking place in front of the airport has been also extended with additional lots. Construction works are being implemented on the accomplishing of the outgoing roadway. Also fulfilled is the planed rehabilitation of the taxi ways Alpha and Eco. Reconstructions the parking approach road communications have been completed. Additional interim terminal to serve the arriving passengers (Terminal5) will be put into operation. An existing facility – hangar is being used as room to separate the temporary terminal. With the start of the new terminal, the airport will be able to handle both passengers and luggage of four arriving flights at the same time. In process of conclusion are the tests of the new parking system of Varna airport.
