Project for development of a circuit railway in Sofia will be discussed in the next 30 days. A workgroup was formed today in order to achieve this goal. It includes MT and Sofia Municipality representatives. This became clear after a meeting between the Minister of Transport and the Deputy Mayor on Transport Velizar Stoilov.

The idea is the town-railway to grow up as a modern transport facility. The financing of its construction will be accomplished with means from the EU structural funds. This way, as expected, the transport problems of the capital city will be resolved.

During the meeting, the upcoming opening of the new Sofia Airport terminal was also discussed, especially the binding of the city-transport with the old and the new terminal, as well the traffic regulation. Also considered were the suggestions of the Ministry, connected with the building of facilities for airport noise reduction.

The building of the intermodal terminal was also part of the themes put under discussion by Minister Mutafchiev. He declared, that a written agreement of the Municipality is being expected, regarding the terrain usage transformation, from area for house building to a lot for constructing of an intermodal and logistic center.
