The Minister of Transport and the Minister of the Regional Development and Public Works Asen Gagauzov attended today the official giving of utilization permission for the new terminal of Sofia Airport /LOT – B1/. The documents were granted to the Director-Executive of Sofia Airport Plamen Stanchev, by the Head of DNSK Ivan Simidchiev. The Deputy Minister of Transport, representatives of “Strabag” and “NAKO” also participated in the event. Activities, which are not included in the contract, are now being accomplished in the terminal building, namely - connecting of the flight information system of the new terminal to an international communication system for reservations and passengers and flight services (SITA). Furnishing works in the official rooms, differentiating of commercial zones and such for services and hotel reservations, rent a car, coffee and snake-bars, fast-food restaurants, grassing-works, ensuring of spots for advertisement etc. are now being implemented as well. During the event the Airport authorities declared, that the term for the putting of the Terminal into operation will be December 20, 2006. Two Bulgarian and four foreign air companies have already shown an interest to begin to operate from the new terminal until the end of the year. The new constructed facility responds to all modern requirements. The new terminal has been drafted for passengers stream of 2 600 000 people a year, as well as for 26000 tons cargo and post. It becomes now possible to serve the biggest airplane classes, as Boing 747,767,777 and Airbus 350. The passengers will be able to get on board direct through the seven exits so that the expenses for serving the traveller will be decreased.
