Negotiations Stage for New Automobile Transportation Agreement between Bulgaria and Greece Completed 29.03.2007

Stage of the negotiations for project preparation for a new agreement, regarding the automobile transportation of passengers and freights, between Bulgaria and Greece was completed. The talks took part between March 27 and 29 2007, according to the previously achieved agreement. The two delegations were leaded by the Deputy Ministers of Transport – Georgi Peterneichev and Mehmed Kutlu.

The Bulgarian side insisted on the liberation of the bilateral transportation from licensing regime, till that moment the issue remains outstanding. There was no full consensus achieved in regard of the kinds of license regimes between the two countries, regarding the accomplishing of transportation between and across their territories.

The Bulgarian side informed the Turkish representatives that from April 15, 2007 the effective operative agreement from 1997 shall be applied, which foresees a license regime for all kinds of cargo transportation.

After the conclusion of the talks a common protocol was signed.
