Minister Mutafchiev Attended the Transport Ministers Council Session 08.06.2007

The Minister of Transport Peter Mutafchiev participated in the session of the EU Ministers Council of the Ministers of transport, telecommunications, and energy. It takes place on June 7th and 8th in Luxemburg. During the meeting, questions connected with the sea security, intermodal transport, and the aeronautics will be discussed.

The Transport Ministers Council approved a project directive for the creation of the Union Information System for traffic Control of the vessels. According to Minister Mutafchiev the system will help to improve the safety of the navigation and will increase the effectiveness of the navigation traffic. It will also optimize the activities of the authorities in case of incidents.

During the session the council approved also a regulation project for the common rules in the field of civil aviation and the creation of a European Agency for Aviation safety.

Within the mainframe of the forum, Minister Mutafchiev caries out bilateral meetings with his colleagues.
