Minister Mutafchiev Attended the Signing of Joint Venture Contract between Bulgarian Aviation Group and Lufthansa Technik 30.10.2007

The Minister of Transport Peter Mutafchiev attended today the signing of the Contract for foundation of a new joint venture company between Bulgarian Aviation Group and Lufthansa Technik, with the name Lufthansa Technik Sofia.

During the ceremony Minister Mutafchiev said that the Bulgarian aviation business has been driven into very difficult circumstances during the restructure of the sector, in order to fulfill the EU joining requirements. "The today's event is a good sign for the aviation business development perspectives. The new center will create favorable conditions for the development of the biggest airport in the country, which shows the recognition of the Bulgarian human resources in the field of airplane maintenance".

The new company will be located in Sofia, Airport Sofia. Lufthansa Technik Sofia will offer an airplane maintenance services for the Airbus A320 family, as well as for Boeing 737, 737 Classic and 737 Next Generation. Lufthansa Technik together with Bulgarian Aviation Group will invest more than 20 Million Euro. More than 350 high qualified technicians and engineers will be employed in the company.

Lufthansa Technik is leading company for maintenance and overhaul of airplanes and their components and engines. This will be the fifth base of that kind in Europe.
