Large size

We are expecting that the safeguard clause of the European Commission imposed upon the Bulgarian aviation will be removed, because the Bulgarian side did everything to accomplish the European safety requirements, said the Minister of Transport Peter Mutafchiev after the meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the European Commission and Transport Commissar Jacques Barrot.

During the meeting, which took place yesterday, the minister informed  Commissar Barrot about the activities of the Bulgarian side in connection with the last report of EASA. Also discussed were the efforts of the Bulgarian Civil Aviation Administration towards the elimination of the critical remarks, which have been made together with the safeguard measures in this field.

Up to the middle of the next month a new check will be made by EASA together with the European Commission and the results will be very important for the decision which will be taken regarding the elimination of the safeguard clause.

According to Minister Mutafchiev Bulgaria is ready to accomplish the action plan which has been approved by EASA in order to surmount the problems.

The Safeguard clause was imposed on the Bulgarian aviation just before the start of the Bulgarian membership in the European Union at the beginning of the year 2007.
