Session of the Commission for Railway Infrastructure Coordination and Development and Facilitation of the Border Procedures between Bulgaria and Serbia Took Place in Belgrade 12.12.2008

The sixth session of the Mixed Bulgarian - Serbian Governing Committee for railway infrastructure and development and facilitation of the border procedures along the pan-European Corridor X took place in Belgrade Serbia.

The Bulgarian delegation was leaded by the Deputy Minister of Transport Daniela Nikiforova and by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure of the Serbian Republic Raiko Perić for the Serbian side.  

During the sitting each of the countries presented information for the condition of the projects for improvement of the border-infrastructure and the railway network along corridor X, as well as for the future initiatives for its development.

The Bulgarian side was made familiar with the national plan for development of the road and railway infrastructure of Serbia, with the transport policy of the Serbian Government, as well as with the planed activities for modernization of the road and infrastructure sections, part of the corridor X on the territory of Serbia.

The Bulgarian side presented information for the current stage of the building of highway "Trakia" and introduced to the Serbian side the project for reconstruction and electrification of the railway line Plovdiv - Svilengrad - Turkish/Greek Boundary, as well as the optimization of the railway road for speed - 160 km/h.
