EU Commissioner announced that the funds are recognized as admissible state aid

The European Commission has approved a targeted assistance, which to be given by the state to BDZ for recycling of 40 passenger non-compartments wagons. The state aid - 43, 5 millions Leva will be available in the form of funds for modernization and reconstruction of the rolling stock. This was announced by the Vice President of the European Commission on Transport Antonio Tajani during the press conference yesterday in the Council of Ministers.

The financial aid requested by MTITC and already approved by the European Commission supports the company. The additional reconstruction and modernization so far had to be carried out with funds of the company.

Bulgaria could face sanctions for this targeted assistance, as this is unacceptable instrument in the European Union. With the approval of the European Commission this aid may be given also in the next years. The fact that Bulgaria received a permission to support the modernization of BDZ makes us optimists for the next years. A long term program will be created for the support and development of BDZ with budgetary funds", declared the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Aleksandar Tsvetkov.
