The Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski met with Pawel Samecki, the EU Commissioner for Regional Policy during his official visit to Bulgaria.

The purpose of the visit was to demonstrate to our European partners Bulgaria's progress on EU-funded projects and the possibilities for development in the region. Samecki stated that the country has every opportunity to make the best use of the € 9.5 billion of EU investments available for the 2007-2013 time frame. In his opinion, Bulgaria is prepared to apply for various projects but admitted that there is a certain delay in the speed of assimilating the funds.

The official delegation led by Pawel Samecki visited the cities of Bourgas and Varna. On the Bulgarian side, the delegation included Rosen Plevneliev, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works,  Nona Karadjova, the Minister of Environment and Water, Juliana Nikolova, Advisor to the Prime Minister and others.
