Large size

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Aleksandar Tsvetkov and Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov gave the green light to the release of new generation travel documents with biometric data. Both Ministers were introduced to the new system and how long it will take for the new documents to be issued in the Regional Police Department of Plovdiv.

The new generation Bulgarian documents, which as of today could be issued in the whole country, meet all international requirements. The release of such biometric documents is one of the conditions for Bulgaria to become part of the Visa Waiver Programme of the United States. The official launch ceremony was attended by a representative of the European Commission. Tsvetan Vashev was the first citizen to apply and receive the new documents.
