The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Aleksandar Tsvetkov launched on 14 June 2010 the start of the first phase of the project 'Establishment of a River Information System in the Bulgarian stretch of Danube' (BULRIS). The project is financed by Operational Programme “Transport” and should be completed in 2011.
The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications defined one of its main priorities – the acceleration of projects financed by European funding, said during the ceremony Minister Aleksandar Tsvetkov. One of these projects, which have to be completed with Operational Programme “Transport” funds, is BULRIS. That is why we left no avenue unexplored in order to keep the project’s preliminary schedule, added Minister Tsvetkov.
The first phase of BULRIS is planned to be realized in the period 2007-2011. It consists of preliminary exploration, system design, development of the bidding documentation and holding an auction for the construction of the main infrastructure of the river information system.
The event was held in the city of Rousse at “Rousse-centre” port. After the official ceremony the journalists and the guests were introduced to the benefits and functions of the information system on board a ship. During the short trip on the Danube River a Power Point presentation was made, as well as a visualization of the vessel on an electronic map.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski, MPs, the executive director of Maritime Administration Sergey Tzarnakliyski, the General Director of the 'Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company' Evgeny Moskov, the Governor of Ruse District Plamen Stoilov and others.
