An investment project for construction of broadband networks totaling BGN 40 million provided under the Operational Programme "Regional Development" lies ahead, said Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Parvan Rusinov at a round table, organized by BTA.

The projects will enable more than 500 000 Bulgarians from small villages in the country to be trained remotely, to work from home, to use e-health and administrative services, to shop online.

19 rural areas and the concept of project implementation are aligned in a working group on broadband and approved by the Advisory Board to the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications. The concept has been discussed many times with the Managing Authority of Operational Programme "Regional Development", as well as with 3 DGs of the European Commission.

Operators of telecommunication services will be invited to discuss new legislative changes, which can facilitate access and use of infrastructure to provide more and better services, said the Deputy Minister.
