Used cars in Bulgaria will be sold with a guarantee stating their roadworthiness. This happened after the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Alexandar Tsvetkov signed a tripartite Memorandum with the Association of Automobile Importers and the Commission for Consumer Protection. With the memorandum will be improved the control and quality of cars sold in Bulgaria, focusing on their safety, roadworthiness and guaranteed origin. Customers will receive a guarantee of a minimum of 3 months for the car purchased, which will be given by car dealerships that are members of the Association of Automobile Importers, said Alexandar Tsvetkov. This will be evidenced by a certificate and a sticker glued to the windshield of the car, the Minister added. In the event that any of the car dealerships sells a defective car and refuses to remedy the damage or to recover money for repairs to the customer, under the internal code of ethics of the members of the organization, will have to pay a penalty, which could reach 5 000 leva. The Association of Automobile Importers has 82 members from 16 cities and consumers can choose between more than 10,000 cars that already have warranties from the seller. The organization is open to new members and thus extends the supply of used cars with a warranty.
The memorandum was signed by the Commission for Consumer Protection chairman Damyan Lazarov, and by the executive director of the Association of Car Importers - Tsvetelina Tsaneva. |
