Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Alexandar Tsvetkov was introduced today to the effect of the introduction of a guarantee for used cars from car dealerships and members of the Association of Automobile Importers (AAI). Representatives of the association reported a serious interest in used cars offered with a warranty. They are adamant that this initiative will rebuild customers’ confidence and ensure safety of vehicles exiting the Bulgarian roads. This is of great importance, given the large number of killed and injured on the roads. Representatives of the association reported that in one week importers and traders wishing to become members rose by nearly 10%, indicating that interest in the initiative is increasing.

During the event Minister Tsvetkov said that with the introduction of security stickers used car market in Bulgaria has become more European. Now every customer will be able to choose between a car with a warranty and a one without. With the initiative taken by the Ministry, the Association of Automobile Importers and the Commission on Consumer Protection, will not only enable consumer choice, but would encourage all retailers to offer better and safer old cars, said Minister Tsvetkov.

On November 7, 2010 Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the Commission on Consumer Protection and the Association of Automobile Importers signed a Memorandum of issuing a guarantee, which certifies the roadworthiness of used cars sold in car dealerships members of the association.

Each company member of the Association of Automobile Importers will determine which car will be accompanied by a guarantee of quality and origin. The term of the warranty will be for at least three months from the date of sale. This will be proved by a certificate and a sticker that is glued to the rear window of the car. Deadline may be extended.
