Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Parvan Rusinov presented the steps in the application of the INSPIRE directive into the Bulgarian legislation. The presentation was part of the conference “Geographic Information Systems in Action 2010”. The discussion is organized by ESRI - Bulgaria and is dedicated to the World Day of Geographical Information Systems - 17 November.

The law for access to spatial data ensures the creation of a national portal for access to spatial information and will be linked to the European electronic platform. 34 topics of data must be described and accessed through the operation of services. These areas cover most areas of the economy and actually create obligations of all government bodies to bring their data in accordance with EU requirements.

As a start-up law enforcement there is a need to be formed teams of experts in government structures and to be conducted training seminars, said Deputy Minister Rusinov.
