Executive Agency "Maritime Administration" exchanged experience with the U.S. Coast Guard 23.11.2010

Between 15 and 19 November 2010 a meeting was held to exchange experience in implementing the requirements of the International Code for Security of Ships and Port Facilities. It was attended by officials of the Coast Guard of the United States and the Executive Agency "Maritime Administration" as a body related to the implementation and enforcement of security requirements of ports and port operators.

The general impression expressed by the U.S. delegation is that Bulgaria at large applies the requirements of the Code, which is improving every year and has made significant progress in this area. Therefore, they will offer their guidance for Bulgaria to remain in the list of countries implementing the requirements of the International Code for Security of Ships and Port Facilities.

During the final meeting, the head of U.S. delegation expressed appreciation for the assistance and cooperation of the Bulgarian institutions and the good organization associated with the visit.

The inspection is conducted along the lines of cooperation between the two countries in security and objectives of the exchange of experiences related to improving security standards of the Bulgarian sea ports. The inspection covered the ports of Varna - West, Balchik, Burgas - West and KRZ Port Bourgas.
