Minister Aleksander Tsvetkov: We have saved 110 million levs for the building of the railway line Plovdiv – Bourgas 28.12.2010

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Aleksandar Tsvetkov announced that 110 million levs have been saved for the rehabilitation of the railway line Plovdiv – Bourgas. This is the difference between the lowest offer from the first tender and the proposal of the company which today was elected as executor. The consortium GCF - SK 13 - Trace Railinfra is placed on the first place. The total cost of the construction is 316 968 850.42 levs, explained Minister Tsvetkov.

Aleksander Tsvetkov stressed that the project Plovdiv-Bourgas is very important because is part of the rail Trakia highway that must move parallel to the auto ban. The speed of trains will reach 130/160 km/h. Currently the speed is 80 km/h. Travel time will be diminished by 1 hour and 10 minutes. The benefits will be great, both for railways and passengers.

The tender for Plovdiv – Bourgas was stopped in the beginning of 2010 because all offers exceeded its indicative value of 366,45 million levs with about 30 %.

The project for the rehabilitation of the railway infrastructure along the line Plovdiv-Bourgas is divided into lots for which the selected contractor has proposed the following prices:

  • Position 1 – Rehabilitation of the railway section Mihailovo – Kaloyanovets, including the main tracks in the stations Mihailovo and Kaloyanovets – 29 652 343, 58 levs without VAT;
  • Position 2 – Rehabilitation of the railway section Stara Zagora – Yambol and Zavoy-Zimnitsa,  including the main tracks in the stations Stara Zagora and Yambol and all stations and stops between them – 151 536 000,19 levs without VAT;
  • Position 3 – Rehabilitation of the railway section Tserovski – Karnobat, including the main tracks in station Tserovski – 135 780 506,65 levs without VAT.

The order covers the design of the building works and their implementation for each lot. The project is financed under the Operational Programme “Transport” from the Cohesion Fund of the EU.
