The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Aleksandar Tsvetkov, the Minister of Labour and Social Policy Totyu Mladenov, the President of the Confederation of Labour “Podkrepa” Dr. Konstantin Trenchev and the Acting President of the Confederation of the Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria Plamen Dimitrov signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the development of the railway sector in the late hours on March,10.

The Memorandum was signed after the leadership of Holding Bulgarian State Railways, the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) and the syndicates endorsed strike agreements.

In the Memorandum are foreseen the measures and priorities for development and modernization of the railway transport in our country.

Minister Aleksandar Tsvetkov confirmed that the staff expenditures will be reduced through retirement and natural fluctuation.

The leading of the measures on reorganization and financial stabilization of Holding Bulgarian State Railways and National Railway Infrastructure Company will be made after obligatory consultations with the social partners.

Together with the National Employment Agency to the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy is prepared an Action Plan for social adaptation and training of the personnel for keeping the employment.

 The main purpose is to stabilize and to recover financially “Bulgarian State Railways Holding” EAD and National Railway Infrastructure Company, in order Bulgaria to have one European, safe and fast railway.

 In the Program for reform is planned gradually increasing of the passenger train standard, improving of the labour conditions of the personnel and reaching higher social standart of the railway profession.
