Large size

All 96 postal operators must create a security structure and check the parcels through technical means. That is foreseen in the project of the new Regulation on the postal security requirements, published on the web site of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications (MTITC). According to the going Regulation these requirements refer to Bulgarian Posts and the 5 operators that are licensed to provide services in the area of the universal postal service.

The Regulation of MTITC introduces requirements to the postal operators that receive, transfer, deliver and supply money and valuables to develop internal instructions for their security and protection in accordance with the competent authorities.

The security of cash resources and valuables will be completed by licensed private security guards, according to the terms and conditions of the Law on private security activity. At the moment the same obligation is imposed on the postal operators.

The Regulation will synchronize the Bulgarian legislation with the new interpretation of the European Union and the Universal Postal Union's security as an essential element of quality postal service.
