Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications launched a philatelic stamp edition inspired by the 2011 TALL Ships Regatta.
The sailing race is held every year in European waters. Bulgarian team Kaliakra is preparing to participate in the race next year (France, July, 5 to 8, Portugal,July,19 to 22). Last year Varna hosted the sporting event.
The “Maritime” theme is popular in Bulgarian stamp printing, but this is the first unit dedicated to the tall ships races put in use.
The brand has a circulation of 11,000 units and 2503 envelopes. The author of the draft issue is the famous Bulgarian artist Villiam Kitanov.
