International web portal will advise young women how to start a career in the field of technology 31.08.2011

An Interactive web portal called “Young Women in ICT” http://www.witnet.org is launched on the initiative of International Telecommunication Union. The site will provide practical information about career opportunities and career realization in the sector of  information and communication technologies.

A special section will provide links to various trainings, scholarships, awards and other activities related to career development of girls at schools and young women in universities. The portal will present companies and public institutions in the technology sector looking to hire women or provide training, internships and scholarships. The site has a separate section where students from schools and universities will be able to connect with career counselors and teachers, the aim of that being promotion of specialized technology education. Analysis of labor markets will be published as well.

The Initiative of the International Telecommunications Organization aims to prevent the negative trend towards decreasing of the number of young people, especially women who want to work in the field of  ICT.
