Large size

Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Parvan Rusinov opened philatelic exhibition dedicated to Pope John Paul II. Philately as a popular art and a means of communication is perhaps the most appropriate way to honor the person of one of the most charismatic missionary spirituality - Pope John Paul II, said Deputy Minister Rusinov.

The exposition is organized by Polish and Bulgarian postal administrations, under the patronage of the Polish Ambassador, Leszek Hensley. It is part of initiatives to mark the World Day of the Post – 9th October.

The exhibition presents stamps and envelopes issued in Poland. Bulgarian stamp printing also honor the person of John Paul II. On May 24, 2002 a postal stamp collectors-edition "Pope John Paul II in Bulgaria” was put into service. That coincided with the visit of the Holy Father in Bulgaria. Stamps were printed in a record circulation of 100,000 because of the large interest.

The event was attended by ambassadors of European countries and the Holy See in Bulgaria.
