Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Ivaylo Moskovski signed a regulation for the security of postal services. Pending to be published in the Official Gazette.

The ordinance requires all 96 postal operators to develop security structures and to do inspection of mail. To date, these regulations only referred to "Bulgarian Posts" EAD and 5 other operators, licensed to provide services within the scope of universal postal service.

The changes aim is to protect mail traffic and prevent placement of dangerous and harmful  objects in parcel deliveries and letters.

The obligation of the postal operators to guard the cash and valuables, will be borne by private security guards licensed under the terms and conditions of the Law on private security activities.

Ordinance synchronize the Bulgarian legislation with the new interpretation of the European Union and Universal Postal Union's security as an essential element of the quality of postal services.
