Bulgaria and Turkey signed a bilateral transportation agreement 06.01.2012

Under the chairmanship of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski, between 5 to 6 January 2012 in Sofia was held the 24th Session of the Bulgarian-Turkish Joint Committee on Transport and Communications. Head of the Turkish delegation was the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications of Turkey, Binali Yildirim.

Open issues were discussed, mainly in road and rail transport. Both ministers discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation in maritime and air transport and the development of combined transport of goods, and further strengthening and contractual-legal base.

At the end of the Bulgaria-Turkey Transportation and Communication Commission meeting in Sofia, Bulgarian's Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski and his Turkey counterpart Binali Yıldırım signed the agreement following

The agreement is based on the recommendation framework set by the European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT) and aims at enhancing the road freight transport and road passenger transport between the two countries, as well as transit transport.

The new agreement will annul the previous one signed in Ankara on April 16, 1977.
