The Deputy-Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Valery Borissov awarded the Ministry of Interior for achievements in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to ensure security in Bulgaria. The ceremony was part of the celebration of the World Day of Geographical Information Systems.

The Executive Agency “Electronic Communication Networks and Information Systems” (EA ECNIS) to the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and the Ministry of Agriculture and Foods received the prize for strategic vision on the use of up-to-date Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for the analysis and development of broadband access in Bulgaria

The World Day of Geographical Information Systems is celebrated every year in November. Highlights of the event were the achievements of organizations in implementing geo-spatial technologies in various sectors.
