Lufthansa Technik to make new investments in Bulgaria 28.01.2013

Lufthansa-Technik will increase its investments in Bulgaria, it became clear after the visit of Bulgaria's minister of transport, Ivailo Moskovski, to the headquarters of the company in Hamburg. Lufthansa Technik will direct a big part of the airplane repair works to Bulgaria. For the purpose the company will invest in new equipment and expansion of the overhaul hangars at Sofia airport. As a result of that the number of the employed people will increase to 800 people.

"The main goal of Bulgaria's cabinet is to create conditions which will attract foreign investors from the rank of Lufthansa-Technik to Bulgaria," minister Moskovski stated. Respesentatives from the german company commented that the excellent results in Sofia were due to the political stability and economic security which Bulgaria offered.

"What Lufthansa Technik managed to do in Bulgaria in the past 5 years is just amazing" Mr. Moskovski added. The daughter company of Lufthansa Technik invested over 40 million euro for the further development of its technical and overhaul base at Sofia airport turning it in one of the biggest in Europe. The expansion allowed Lufthansa Technik Sofia to service six airplanes simultaneously and to carry out 60 heavy checks per year, providing jobs for 600 people.

During the official visit two of the high-ranking officials in Lufthansa Technik - Soren Stark and Thomas Stuger presented to minister Moskovski the activities of the company.

Lufthansa Technik is the leading manufacturer independent provider of maintenance, repair, overhaul and modification services for civil aircraft with more than 26 000 workers and over  4.1 bln euro revenue for the last year.

Lufthansa Technik invested over 40 million euro for development of its technical and overhaul base at Sofia airport. In 2011 and 2012 the company developed  two new high-tech lines to serve additional 3 aircraft. The expansion of the facility at Sofia airport service allows 6 aircraft simultaneously and realization of 60 serious repairs per year.
