The caretaker Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Kristian Krastev will take part in a round table at the 12th Conference on Mediterranean blue economy: enhancing marine and maritime cooperation. The organizers of the event are the European Commission, the International Maritime Organization and the European Investment Bank.

The conference will take place on 18th and 19th April 2013 in Athens, Greece. The Prime-minister of the Republic of Greece, Mr. Antonis Samaras will deliver the opening speech. The main objective is directing public attention to the maritime sector and developing maritime economy by overcoming the sector approach.

Minister Krastev has been invited to present the Bulgarian experience within the framework of the Black Sea partnership and the measures undertaken in the context of the European programme for growth and employment in maritime sector. The progress on the project for upgrading vessel traffic management system, legislative amendments in the sector, concession policy and others will be presented. The priorities for improving blue economy in the Mediterranean and promoting cooperation will be discussed at the conference sessions.
