"Philately, as a popular art and a means of communication, is perhaps the most appropriate way to honour a person who has made a significant contribution to the history of the Bulgarian people." This was stated by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Danail Papazov, during the launch ceremony of a postal-philatelic stamp commemorating 70 years of Tsar Boris III’s death.

Minister Papazov further said that streets, parks and squares in many cities across the country are named after Tsar Boris III, and today we pay our respect for his personality through a post stamp.

The face of the Bulgarian statesman has been printed on a number of postal-philatelic stamps, some of which are a rarity these days, recalled Danail Papazvov. A series of 8 stamps was published in 1919, entitled "One year after the ascent of Tsar Boris III". Special editions have been further published in 1937, 1938 and 1944.

The edition which was presented today is entitled "In memoriam of Tsar Boris III (1894-1943)". It is a block with a post stamp and a special stamp. The stamp has a print run of 13,000 copies. The artist of the project is Rosen Toshev.

Minister Danail Papazov set the stamp validation seal along with Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and his sister - Marie-Louise. The ceremony was also attended by Margarita Acebo - Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha’s wife, MPs, public figures and philatelists.
