The Executive Director of Executive Agency "Electronic Communication Networks and Information Systems" Krasimir Simonski visited the town of Nedelino where a high-speed optical digital highway to the town of Smolyan is to be set. The high-speed optical digital highway is a project of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and it will be financed with EU funds. The towns of Rudozem, Madan, Zlatograd as well as 25 municipalities in other Bulgarian districts are included in the project. Krasimir Simonski presented the mayors and the leaders of the district with the objectives of the project and how it fits into the Ministry’s priorities of setting the infrastructure of the e-governance.
Before that he visited the National Observatory in Rozhen where he got acquainted with the needs of connectivity between the observatory and the research network in Bulgaria. Thus it will become part of the European and worldwide network of observatories for monitoring the celestial bodies. According to Krasimir Simonski the advanced telecommunication technologies provide a unique opportunity for the development of regions such as the Rodopi one. The wonderful living conditions there can be combined with the mobility of qualified work force from around Bulgaria and the rest of the world. |
