Nine million Levs is the total amount of compensation to "Bulgarian Posts" EAD for the provision of universal services in economically unfavorable areas of the country, said the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Danail Papazov.
Two million Levs were granted a few weeks ago, which were provided for the state budget, now the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications managed to provide 2 million more in additional reserves from its own funds. After the update of the state budget, a further 5 million Levs are expected to come within 2013, said Minister Papazov. He stressed that the government is making great efforts to ensure the due compensation to "Bulgarian Posts".
“We have no intentions to privatize Bulgarian Posts”, stated the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications firmly. Rehabilitations programs are currently taking place in the company. Meanwhile, today marked the launch of union meetings aimed at discussing restructure plans for the company. The measures will provide cost optimization, elimination of duplicate functions, new activities such as the sale of Sports Totalizer (Lotto/Lotary) services in the branches of the Post Office, and in the future - train tickets.
"Bulgarian Posts" is an extremely important enterprise for the Bulgarian economy and social life, especially in remote areas of the country, so we will make every effort to rescue them and ensure the provision of quality postal services, said Danail Papazov. |
