The logistics sector is the main driving mechanism of the economy, accounting for over 10% of the GDP in Europe. This was stated by Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Danail Papazov at the opening of "Technology Trends in the logistics: Products and solutions" Conference.

The development of freight transport logistics and creating a favorable environment for the effective functioning of logistics systems is a priority for the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, said Minister Papazov. According to him, a major factor in this process is the modernization of the transport infrastructure.

Daniel Papazov stressed that the major part of the Ministry's efforts are directed towards the development of trans-European infrastructure priority areas and the construction of intermodal facilities at key points throughout the country.

"In parallel, we aim to implement new technologies in the different modes of transport. Intelligent transport systems will not only reduce costs but will also increase the quality of services and more efficient operation of the transport-logistics system" concluded Minister Papazov.
