"Black Sea" Highway is not only important for the development of our transport links with the Black Sea countries, but also to improve the competitiveness of the Bulgarian ports. That said Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Petar Kirov at the forum "The Black Sea Ring Highway - Challenges and Perspectives", held in the city of Burgas.

"If we talk about the "Black Sea Raiload", it surpasses the aqutomobile. Withn the new programming period is to build a railway line Karnobat - Sindel . “Thus, with a relatively small investment of 170 million, we will do a quick link between Northern and Southern Bulgaria, and most importantly - between the ports of Varna and Burgas"said Deputy Minister Kirov. He added that thanks to the good cooperation between institutions he hopes soon to report the progress in project preparation for the "Black Sea" Highway.

The theme of the Forum is tied to the goals and priorities of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC). One of the targets for the member states of the organization is to co-ordinate the planning and construction of the Black Sea Ring Highway In order the objectives and the scope of the project to be clear, on April 19th 2007 in Belgrade has been adopted a Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU ) for the coordinated development of the The Black Sea Ring Highway. It will be composed of a main line and road links with required length of about 7,000 km. Future motorway ring should meet current standards for road infrastructure and the requirements of international freight traffic in terms of carrying capacity, ride comfort, security and safety.
