Today The Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications of the Republic of Bulgaria Anton Ginev met with State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Serbia Miodrag Poledica.

                 
Deputy Minister Anton Ginev invited Serbia to join the Functional Airspace Block DANUBE FAB as an observer in view of the fact that the Republic of Serbia is a strategic partner in the process of establishing the Single European Sky. The country has a central place in terms of the flows of aircrafts in the region and together with Bulgaria and Romania forms an inseparable block of airspace, which may take a significant role in the air navigation services in the region in the context of the Single European Sky initiative.

The relationship between Holding BDZ EAD and "Serbian Railways" JSC as well as the opening of negotiations for debt settlement to Holding BDZ which was formed in the period 1996 - 2006 were discussed.

The opportunities for joint initiatives in respect of the navigation on the Danube River were discussed as well. The Bulgarian side expressed interest on the readiness of the Republic of Serbia for setting up the RIS system and the possibilities of holding a meeting of the providers of this kind of services in both countries. The details for the integration of the systems between the two countries are expected to be specified during the meeting.
