MTITC hosted a meeting with mayors to provide free television for disadvantaged residents of areas without a digital signal 22.01.2014

Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications (MTITC) hosted a meeting with representatives of the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria and the Ministry of Finance (MoF) related to the discussion of the possible  ways to absorb the allocated government funds to municipalities without a digital television signal.

In December 2013 were allocated 600 000 lev to the affected communities. The provisions of the decree foresee local authorities to ensure the possibility for the population to access digital TV content according to the nature of the terrain in the area and also are subject to the requirements of technology neutrality of networks.

In response to the request of the mayors to get more information about the possible technical solutions and eligible costs, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Georgi Todorov said MTITC and MoF will prepare a joint instruction in the short term.
