The Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Georgi Todorov and the President of the National Assembly Mihail Mikov validated two postal-philatelic editions dedicated to the International Philatelic Exhibition “BALKANFILA 2014”. The exhibition is organized by the Bulgarian Philatelists Union and “Bulgarian Posts” EAD under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria.
Both philatelic editions were circulated at the opening of the exhibition. The first is a post card “International Philatelic Exhibition Balkanfila 2014”. The circulation is 892 copies and the artist is Nenko Atanasov.
The second edition entitled “International cultural anniversaries” consists of four post stamps and comprises of famous people’s birthday anniversaries. It depicts four world famous people related to the art - William Shakespeare, Taras Shevchenko, Mihail Lermontov and Richard Strauss. The edition is circulated in 15 000 copies. The artist of the project is Atanas Atanasov.
The Philatelic exhibition was organized for the seventeenth time this year and it was held in the city of Vidin. It brings together participants from 11 Balkan countries and guests from Russia. Their works are shown in 250 canvases, divided into five categories: "Postal history," "Traditional philately", "Maksimafiliya", "Youth class" and "1 board".
The exhibits were evaluated by an international jury. One of the participants in the philatelic exhibition received a special award on behalf of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications. The award was presented to Orlin Todorov for the exhibit "Bulgarian - Little Lion", which includes stamps from the period 1889 - 1901. The patron of the exhibition Mihail Mikov presented the award to Atadan Tunadzha for the exhibit "Postal history of the Ottoman Railways".
Among the guests during the first day of the exhibition were his Eminence the metropolitan of Vidin Dometyan, the Secretary of the European Philatelic Federation Boyan Brachich, the honorary President of the Union of Bulgarian Philatelists Simeon Sakskoburgotski, the Regional Governor of Vidin Krustyo Spasov, the mayor of Calafat Mircha Gutsa, the Executive Director of "Bulgarian Posts" Valentin Petkov. |
