We reveal the second railway project built with funds from the Operational Programme "Transport". That was said by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Danail Papazov, during the ceremony of the formal placing in service of the upgraded rail section Mihaylovo – Kaloyanovets, part of the project for the rehabilitation of the line Plovdiv - Burgas.

"The other two lots, that are part of the line Plovdiv - Burgas and are under construction, have reached between 70 and 80% of their implementation", said Danail Papazov. They are expected to be completed by the end of this year. According to him, the aim is to allow a speed of 160 km / h in most parts of the line by 2020.

Minister Danail Papazov announced that all rail projects under the Operational Programme "Transport" are in progress. Until now, the National Company "Railway Infrastructure" has received more than 394 million lev by the European programme.

During the event, it became clear that joint inspections by the Bulgarian and Romanian side were conducted for the technical condition and equipment safety of the railway bridge "New Europe" at Vidin - Calafat. They showed that the line meets all technical requirements for the operation and safety of travel and the train traffic on the bridge can be launched. It is expected that the first train to cross the bridge will be in May.

The project for the rehabilitation of the line Plovdiv - Burgas is implemented under the Operational Programme "Transport". The value of the segment Mihaylovo - Kaloyanovets is over 35 million lev and allows speed of up to 160 km / h

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Ministers of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Peter Kirov and Anton Ginev, the Director General of National Company Railway Infrastructure, Milcho Lambrev, the governor of Stara Zagora, Zhivka Aladzhova, and others.
