By ordinance of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov’s EA "Automobile Administration" is tightening the control on bus and taxi passenger transportation during the Easter holidays.
The purpose of the checks is to ensure safe and smooth traffic during the Easter holidays as EA "Automobile Administration" will be constantly carrying out inspections.
On 17 and 21 April 2014, inspectors will focus on places where the greatest number of passengers is expected, such as large bus stations and train stations. Inspectors will monitor the compliance with the statutory requirements, the technical condition of vehicles, passengers with no seats assigned, issuing of luggage receipts and other offenses.
EA "Automobile Administration" teams will participate in the planned campaign of the European Organization of road inspectors (ECR), which will be held between April 14 to 20 throughout the country. The focus of the inspections is freight transportations as the theme of the campaign is "Cabotage goods".
Along with these checks the control on the conduct of illegal transportation of passengers will continue and for the first quarter of this year the inspectors inspected nearly 24,000 cars and vans and issued 961 tickets. A total of 140 administrative measures have been enforced, 116 of which are due to illegal transportation of passengers and the respective vehicles have been immobilized for 6 months. In comparison to the same period last year 51 vehicles have been immobilized for unauthorized operations. |
