The Minister of Transport Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov welcomed the participants at the Meeting of the Ministers of Transport of the Member States of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC). The forum is organized under the Bulgarian Chairmanship in office and held in Sofia in the period 15 - 16 April 2014.
In his speech Minister Danail Papazov stated that cooperation in the field of transport is one of the main instruments for the implementation of the European approach towards the Black Sea region. He added that the current meeting is a good opportunity for the discussion of issues such as the development of sustainable transport systems which meet the economic, social and environmental priorities and needs of the population in the Black Sea region. In his words, the development of such systems will allow for the reduction of inconsistency in the transport infrastructure in the Black Sea region and that of the European and Asian transport networks.
"One of the priorities of the Bulgarian Chairmanship of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation is the permanent integration of ecological factors into transport policies in the region as well as improving the safety and security in transport", said Minister Danail Papazov.
The participants in the forum adopted the Final declaration of safe and green transport in the Black Sea region. The conference was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Anton Ginev. It was also attended by Viktor Tsvirkun - Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of BSEC, Vasile Botnaru - Minister of Transport of the Republic of Moldova, Edmond Haxhinasto - Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Albania, Maxim Bourbaki - Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine - Caesar-Radu Soare, Deputy Ministers, Ambassadors, Representatives of international organizations dealing with transport.
