This is evident from the report on the money repaid under Operational Program “Transport”, which was presented by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov at a press conference in the town of Sandanski. In his words in the first 114 days of the year 132.9 million lev has been paid to beneficiaries under the program.

An agreement has already been reached on the budget and the activities to be funded under the new Operational Programme “Transport and Transport Infrastructure” 2014 – 2020. “The program budget is 1.9 billion euros, approximately 70% of the funds are distributed equally between road and rail infrastructure - 673 million euros for each”, added Danail Papazov. In his words about 400 million euros has been contracted for the subway and about 25 million euros are provided for the construction of intermodal terminals.

“The main objective when planning the new program period is the balance in the investment between railway and road infrastructures as well as the investment between North and South Bulgaria", added Minister Papazov.
