The Minister of Transport Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov participated in the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Transport, Telecommunications and Energy of the European Union ("Transport" and "Telecommunications" parts).The meeting takes place from 5 to 6 June 2014 in Luxembourg, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The Ministers of the Member States of the European Union аre discussing topics in the field of road, maritime and air transport as well as telecommunications. During the meeting today issues in the filed of transport have been discussed.

Regarding the railway sector the ministers supported the achievement of a political agreement on legislative proposals of "the technical pillar" of the Fourth Railway Package.

Political agreement has been achieved on the texts of the proposed Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council for amending the Directive 96/53/EC from 25 July 1996 concerning the maximum authorized dimensions in national and international traffic for certain road vehicles which are traveling throughout the Community, and the maximum authorized weights in international traffic.

In the area of maritime transport the ministers adopted a progress report on the Proposal for Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a framework on market access to port services and financial transparency of ports.

The Greek presidency presented a report on the conclusions of the Council on the mid-term review of EU’s maritime transport policy until 2018 and outlook to 2020.

In the area of air transport the presented progress report on Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 establishing common rules on compensation and assistance to passengers in the event of denied boarding and of cancellation or long delay of flights and Regulation (EC) No 2027/97 on air carrier liability in respect of the carriage of passengers and their baggage by air, was adopted.

During the meeting on 6 June 2014 the ministers will discuss issues related to communications such as the Proposal for directive on the measures for ensuring high level of network and information security in the Union, as well as the Proposal for regulation on the measures for single European electronic communications market and establishment of continental network.
