The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov presented the projects for the development of Next Generation Broadband internet infrastructure and for the development of e-services at a meeting with the Head of the Cabinet of the Vice President of the European Commission Neelie Kroes - Constantijn Van Oranje-Nassau.
We are preparing some significant legislative amendments and we are synchronizing the strategies with the priorities for the next programming period, said the Minister. He gave as an example the forthcoming review of the Broadband Access Strategy by the Council of Ministers. The project for high-speed broadband in sparsely populated areas has been implemented and is expected to provide connectivity to 270 000 Bulgarians that are currently in “digital isolation”.
The Deputy-Minister Georgi Todorov and the Executive Director of EA “Electronic Communication Networks and Information Systems” Krassimir Simonski took part in the meeting. |
