Today the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov inspected the construction of the railway line Dimitrovgrad – Svilengrad-the Greek border.
Construction works along the 36 km railway section from Dimitrovgrad to Harmanli are going according to schedule. The station hall in Dimitrovgrad is under construction as well as ten new switches. The pedestrian subway and crossing with two overhead bridges are mantled. The greater part of the small facilities is finalized and 3.3 km of railway tracks and overhead line are laid. The physical progress along the section is over 55 per cent. The traffic between the railway stations of Dimitrovgrad and Simeonovgrad is to be commissioned by 14 December 2014. There are six archaeological sites along the line and the works on one of them have been completed.
Minister Papazov inspected the works along the railway section Harmanli – Svilengrad-the Greek border with the total length of 38 km. Part of the railway station in Svilengrad is constructed. There are digging and bulk works finalized at the loading station and at places the railway tracks are laid. Two large facilities are under construction – an overhead crossing and a bridge over Siva Reka River. The railway tracks along the section Svilengrad – the Greek border are rehabilitated and some 1500 meters of overhead lines are to be mantled. The physical progress along the section from Harmanli to Svilengrad-the Greek border is about 40 per cent. Almost 8 km of railway tracks have been laid between the stations of Lubimetz and Svilengrad. In a month the section between the two towns is to be temporarily commissioned. The railway bridges over the rivers Lozenska and Belishka are fully constructed. The route between Lubimetz and Biser is prepared for track laying.
The GSM-R towers in Generalovo and Svilengrad have been constructed and the optical cable in the section towards the Turkish border has been mantled. The signaling hall at the station in Dimitrovgrad has also been renovated.
Minister Papazov inspected the traction substation of Svilengrad 95 per cent of which have been constructed and it only has to be connected to the electric circuit.
The whole project is to be finalized in the autumn of 2015.
