A passenger train derailed near the railway station of Kaloyanovets 12.07.2014

A passenger train traveling from Sofia to Varna derailed near the railway station of Kaloyanovets. The accident happened today – 12.07.2014, about 15:17.

During the accident, the locomotive turned and hit the third car. Unfortunately, the engine driver died on the spot. According to initial information there are 11 people injured. The injured people were transported to the hospital in the town of Stara Zagora in six ambulances.

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov and the Deputy Minister Anton Ginev are traveling to the place of the accident.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. The Director General of National Railway Infrastructure Company Milcho Lambrev and the Executive Director of Holding BDZ EAD Hristian Krastev are also traveling to the railway station of Kaloyanovets.
