“I hope that by the end of the day the area of the accident will be taken care of and the traffic on road 1 to Burgas will restored”, said the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov in today’s Nova TV morning programme.

“The restoration of road 2 will take longer and it will be finalized later on Monday”, commented Minister Papazov who is at the site of the accident at the railway station of Kaloyanovets.

Danail Papazov pointed out that every train is equipped with automated velocity control which can be switched off for various reasons. The railway carrier provided information that the engine driver is experienced and his assistant has had license for a few weeks and can run the train under the supervision of a train driver.

In the next few days competent authorities are expected to investigate and pinpoint the causes for the derailment in the newest section of the railway infrastructure.
