By order of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Nikolina Angelkova on Sunday MTITC established an Operational Headquarters to monitor and control the railway network in the country.

The Operational Headquarters is headed by the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Georgi Todorov and includes the Director General of SE NRIC Milcho Lambrev, the Executive Director of "Holding BDZ" EAD Hristian Krastev and the Chief safety inspector at NRIC Biser Minchev.

For a second day in a row teams of the two companies are carrying out thorough inspections of the affected areas and use specialized equipment to fix the damages where possible. The experts hope that the situation will go back to normal in a few days, thus facilitating train traffic, and that this will provide for an actual assessment of the damages. In the meantime, the transportation of passengers is being carried out along alternative railway routes or by buses.

On Thursday and Friday – 11 and 12 September, Minister Angelkova will inspect the regions of Mihaylovo - Kaloyanovets, Lyubenovo – Galabovo and other flood-stricken areas along the route Dimitrovgrad-Nova Zagora.
